Information in English Nordmarkskapellet lies in the heart of "Nordmarka", the
forest north of
Oslo. This wooden chapel was built in 1933 by a group of students who wanted to
provide a place of worship for the many young people who went skiing on Sundays
in the winter months. The chapel has been expanded several times, and now has a
sleeping wing, a modern kitchen and a basement with showers. The chapel building
itself and the nearby cabin Lagshytta can accommodate a total of 75 people. Most weekends during the school year the chapel is rented by various Christian groups and used as a camp site. There is a short church service on Sundays at 12 o'clock. Before and after the service the cafeteria is open. There you can buy coffee, tea, soft drinks, waffles, chocolate - and wax for your skis!
Nordmarkskapellet is run by volunteers. Most of them are students who need to work during the holidays. For this reason, there are no services in the summer and at Christmas, New Year and Easter. However, it is generally still possible to rent Nordmarkskapellet at these times.
